The Port Macquarie Teams Challenge is the only event of its kind in the world! Bodyboarding clubs from all around Australia pit the best 10 riders from their clubs against each other to claim the title of ‘best club in the nation’. 

This unique event is steeped in history with the first event being run way back in 1988! The Teams event soon became one of the premier events in Australia with clubs from all over the nation taking part and rivalries between teams started to follow. Up to 10 teams competing in this event will see 100 bodyboarders, plus supporters, converge on Port Macquarie beaches over the three days of the June long weekend.

Competition Format:

The team you enter must have 10 riders that consist of:

• 1 x Drop Knee1 x U/18 Bodyboarder prone
• 8 x prone bodyboarders ranked from 1 to 8 (this is to ensure the riders of the same or similar ability surf against each other)
• New format for 2024: your #1 rider entrant will be the power surfer and will score double points
• Riders can not compete in both dropknee and prone
• Riders can not be changed in the heat draw once it has been finalised
• There will be 24 heats per day and heats start at 7:00 am sharp!
• There will be 4 man heats - 20 minutes for each heat for prone
• There will be 5 man heats for dropknee and U/18 riders
• U/18 competitors will compete over 4 x 5 man heats against each other

The Presentation will be held once again at our major Sponsor Settlers Inn Hotel on Sunday afternoon from 5 pm so come in for a feed and beer to get the celebrations started
